Health IT Now Applauds Senators Bennet and Hatch on Introduction of MEDTECH Act

Washington, D.C. – The Health IT Now Coalition supports the introduction of the MEDTECH Act and applauds the bipartisan effort by Senators Michael Bennet and Orrin Hatch to update our nation’s outdated regulatory framework for health IT.

“The MEDTECH Act is critical to providing quality care with access to information most relevant to the patient,” said Joel White, executive director of the Health IT Now Coalition. “The introduction of MEDTECH is an encouraging step toward providing clarity on how and by which agency health IT is regulated. It is time for our laws to reflect the technological advancements made in our healthcare system over the past four decades.”

This fall, lawmakers have an opportunity to make “Harnessing the Power of Telehealth” a reality.

Health IT Now Commends ONC, HHS for Step Forward on Interoperability

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT officially presented their 10-year vision for interoperability.  National Coordinator for Health IT Dr. Karen DeSalvo issued a call to arms about how to achieve interoperability, unequivocally supporting interoperability as a priority that must become a reality. She called on a panel of experts to approve recommendations from the JASON Task Force that would more aggressively and effectively establish health care interoperability.
