Health IT Now submitted a comment letter to Chairman Fred Upton and the House Committee on Energy and Commerce regarding the 21st Century Cures Initiative. We are convinced technology must play a foundational role in fostering 21st Century cures. Many aspects of our current health care system encourage inefficiency and promote waste aided and abetted by program and data silos. In some instances, federal policy and taxpayer dollars subsidize this waste. Perhaps worse, current technology solutions and data are not being brought to bear on pressing health problems. We thus believe the Committee has substantial opportunities to both address current problems and build a federal framework to encourage the discovery, development, and delivery cycle.
